Sorry Hormel, But I Hate Spam

"I'm so tired of Spam if I have to eat any more I'm gonna puke." - anonymous GI

Spam is basically fake food. It's not really ham and I'd hate to know what parts of the pig are actually used to make Spam. It's basically tasteless fat with some lousy flavor added to make it taste kind of like ham so people find very creative ways to make it taste edible. Okay, yeah, I know it's the national food of Hawaii, but for the most part, I think most people hate Spam.

Spam is also fake advertising. It's nothing but tasteless fat with a little advertising flavor added. Any of us that use a computer and send email are probably victims of computer spam. We get it in our inboxes daily. Apparently, we all want bigger penises, harder penises, bigger boobs, fake watches, better orgasms, longer cum shots, and free porn. Unfortunately, spam works so it's something we are stuck dealing with. We use spam filters for our email and popup blockers on our browsers -- even though those remove or block legitimate email and web pages -- or we do our best to ignore it, but it's still there, nawing away out us like a flesh eating disease we can't get rid of.

There's another kind of spam too and that's what pissed me off enough this morning to make me sit down and rant a bit about it. Message board spam is something that board owners and moderators deal with all day long. Even if they have a spam forum, plenty of it still ends up on the main forums and needs to be moved and deleted. Of course before that happens, some people see the spam and act on it, so I won't say that it's totally ineffective, but I will say that anyone that understands marketing will know that they could achieve far better results with a some thought and a little effort.

I spam all the time, technically. I don't post on message boards for fun, for the most part, I do it as part of my job and to make money and I spend quite a bit of time posting on a few boards where they do more talking about business than about their favorite TV show or fighting over who has the most cars. The difference between me and anyone else that knows how to use a message board for promotion and a spammer is that we actually participate on the boards and don't just fly by once in a while to post a link and say, "Check out my new affiliate program with 100% payouts."

So, I have just one thing to say to you spammers. Stick your spam where it belongs, asswipes.
